Law firms merge

LAW firm Last Cawthra Feather has merged with fellow Yorkshire outfit Kenningham Underwood Armstrong.

The move sees Bradford-based KUA’s principal, Ian Underwood, join Last Cawthra Feather as partner and head of the firm’s family law team.

A further four staff from KUA have joined Last Cawthra Feather.

Last Cawthra Feather has four offices in Bradford, Ilkley, Leeds and Shipley which accommodate 14 partners and more than 130 employees and offers a broad portfolio of legal services to businesses and private individuals.

Merger: Last Cawthra Feather’s family law team (clockwise from back) – Simon Stell, Lillian Black, Andrew Williamson, Paul Westcott, Rachel Long and Ian Underwood.

KUA, which will adopt the Last Cawthra Feather name following the merger, specialises in family and commercial law.

Simon Stell, managing partner at Last Cawthra Feather, said: “We are delighted to be joined by KUA, the move will prove beneficial to existing clients of both firms, and will strengthen our family law team but also extend the range of commercial law services including corporate, debt recovery, employment law and sports law  to former KUA Clients.”

Mr Underwood presently sits as Deputy District Judge and Recorder and has a strong background working in both family and child care work. He will relocate to the Bradford headquarters of Last Cawthra Feather along with other KUA employees.

The move will see the number of fee earners in Last Cawthra Feather’s family law team increase to seven.
