McCarthy’s moves on

YORKSHIRE'S largest privately-owned removals business,
McCarthy's is expanding following rapid growth and
diversification over the last two years.

The company which was founded more than 35 years ago has
benefited hugely from Yorkshire's growing popularity as a place
to re-locate for businesses as well as the recent housing boom.

Additionally McCarthy's has capitalised on the growing trend
for self storage, opening new storage facilities on Meanwood
Road.

Mike McCarthy, director of the firm said, “There are so
many factors that have affected our business over the last few
years. Changes such as the rise in the single household, the
booming housing market and even the fact that people have so many
more possessions these days, means that they require a range of
different services when moving. Self storage in particular has
really grown to cater for people's ever expanding portfolio of
possessions. Especially when couples or families separate they
often need to store their belongings while they agree a
settlement.”

Businesses in the region are also taking advantage of the
outsourced storage approach with prestigious brands such as Harvey
Nichols, Ford and Warren, Nuffield Hospitals and Clarion Solicitors
using the new facility on Meanwood Road.

McCarthy's now employs 35 full time removals professionals
and has 15 removals vehicles, including the firm's oldest ever
lorry a 1938 bedford which is still used daily and often seen in
and around the Leeds area.

Mr McCarthy concluded, “We are a family run business that
has been operating throughout Yorkshire and Leeds for many years.
As a local business we have really benefited from the region's
growing popularity and affluence and have found that good service
and value for money remain the key to our success.”
