Andel secures £650,000 investment

A YORKSHIRE-BASED environmental technology specialist has received a £650,000 equity investment to help it fund its future growth.
Andel, based in Marsden, Huddersfield, offers a range of products and services which aim to protect the physical assets of a business and prevent environmental damage.
Its major brands include Floodline – a leak detection system for the protection of assets and properties from unseen potentially disastrous leaks and Pollution Prevention – its environmental services division.
Customers include Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace, The Royal Mail, Arriva Buses, BT, Lloyds TSB and the Ministry of Defence.
Managing Director Ian Pogson said: “The environmental sector is a growing industrial area and to capitalise on the opportunities available we need to invest in staff, equipment and buildings. With an ever growing raft of legislation, it is becoming increasingly hard for companies to keep up to date with environmental law and the best way to look after valuable assets and that’s where Andel can help.
“It isn’t just about being green, it is about protecting your assets. That could mean looking after legal documents, computer hardware or bank notes; or avoiding a fine if an industrial accident causes a polluting leak.”
The company received the funding from Partnership Investment Finance (PIF) – a commercial fund part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and European Social Fund programmes.
Senior investment manager for PIF, Ondrej Okeke, said: “The decision to invest in Andel was relatively straightforward as it has a track record of delivering high value goods and services to blue chip companies and government organisations. The company has a well balanced management team able to make the most of its innovative products in a growing market.”
Mark Harris – the former leader of Leeds City Council – is commercial director at the firm.
