Hempz aims to break into Russian haircare market

NATURAL botanicals hair care brand Hempz – which has its European headquarters in Leeds – has secured a deal to supply its products to a top department store in Russia.

Russian department store Douglas is one of the country’s largest.

Since launching in Europe in 2004 the Hempz brand has gone from strength to strength, making a mark in Lithuania, Italy, Germany, Poland and the Netherlands.

Although Hempz is distributed solely through professional salons in the UK including Regis Trade Secrets and selected Vidal Sassoon salons, the boutique brand will have a dedicated retail unit in Russia’s Douglas stores, standing alongside other high-end beauty brands such as La Prairie, Bliss and Molton Brown.

Managing director Tim Driver said: “Over the last 12 months the interest in the Hempz ranges has soared and demand in Eastern Europe is continually increasing. This deal with Douglas is a great step for Hempz, giving the brand a top quality home in Russia.”

Hempz hair and skincare ranges were introduced to the UK four years ago but was orignally launched in the US in 1987.
