Jewels online for Christmas

CHRISTMAS shoppers will be able to take advantage of a brand new online jewellery buying experience with the launch of Precious Monkey’s self-design concept.

The web-based service offers customers the ability to design their own bespoke pieces of jewellery at the click of a button.

The business, which is backed by Leeds-based investment fund Phase 37, will also retail hand crafted pre-designed items, which can also be altered to make a more personal piece.

According to Phase 37 the self-design service is a world first and is set to revolutionise the way consumers buy jewellery.

Collections can be tweaked and changed within a matter of days to keep track of key fashion trends.

Liz Clothier, the company’s fashion director said: “We are incredibly excited about the launch of Precious Monkey Jewellery and the fact that it will offer on-line customers the freedom to create.

“The design your own concept has never been done before and we are confident it will encourage people to exercise their creative flair and create truly bespoke pieces of jewellery.

Precious Monkey is the brainchild of managing director and experienced jeweller Nigel Townsend, who also heads one of Yorkshire’s best known jewellers Townsend Fine Jewellers.

Precious Monkey is Phase 37’s maiden investment. The fund is headed by Simon Clothier – founder of the highly successful Wetherby-based management consultancy Boxwood – and his wife Liz.

Investments will see the Clotheirs adopt a very “hands on” approach to actively promote fast growth based on a seven phase business cycle model – one being the original idea and seven exit.

It is expected to raise between £1m and £2m in order to provide early phase funding for new and emerging businesses across a range of sectors.
