Nestle announces more than 100 York jobs
CONFECTIONERY giant Nestle has confirmed it is to create at least a 100 new jobs at its York-based plant.
The new positions will be based in a new facility for the company’s co-packing operation and will be a mixture of permanent jobs and contracts.
Nestle has estimated that the move could cut lorry miles by 30,000 – the equivalent of 4,000 lorry loads.
Paul Grimwood, managing director of Nestle, said: “We are delighted that this will bring more jobs to the city of York.
“We are continually looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment.”
He added: “So rather that moving backwards and forwards around the country it makes sound environmental and business sense to bring the co-packing to one of Nestle’s largest distribution centres.”
Earlier this year a further 80 jobs were created at the York site.
