‘Business as usual’ for Cable-Talk following deal

THE managing director of Yorkshire cabling systems company Cable-Talk has outlined his plans for the firm’s growth after leading a management buyout of the business.

Steve Slater said the Wakefield-based company would build on its existing contracts and reiterated that it was “business as usual” following the deal.

Mr Slater, and fellow director Lucy Alderton, have led the management buyout of the company, which provides cabling systems for computer networks.

Mr Slater said the deal, which has seen Cable-Talk exit administration, had enabled the company’s debts to be wiped out.

Its previous owner, Great North Solutions, a company established as a consultancy and investment vehicle to buy fast-growing businesses, no longer has any involvement in Cable-Talk.

Great North Solutions involved Yorkshire businessman Keith Madeley and won backing for its acquisition of Cable-Talk in 2008 from Co-operative Bank and Partnership Investment Finance.

Mr Slater told TheBusinessDesk.com that he and Ms Alderton had invested their own funds into the buy-out and had also received external finance.

“The business is as good as it was before. There’s nothing at all wrong with it and nothing’s going to change,” said Mr Slater, who added Cable-Talk had not lost any existing contracts and had been in talks with its existing suppliers.

Cable-Talk, which was established in 1996, has 13 salaried staff and a bank of experienced sub-contractors. It installs high tech fibre optic and voice cabling for IT and telecommunications systems across the UK.

It has offices in Wakefield and London.
