Appointments: Tracsis; BWC; Joe Manby; Hempsons

TRACSIS, the transport data software company has appointed a new non-executive chairman.

Newly appointed Christopher Cole is the non-executive chairman and founder of WSP Group, a global engineering and environmental consultancy. He held the post of chief executive officer at WSP between 1987 and 2012, and in that time grew the company both organically and by acquisition to become a market leader employing over 10,000 people across 40 countries.  Most recently, he led the merger of WSP with Genivar and has become the chairman of the enlarged entity, now named WSP Global. 

Cole is also non-executive chairman of Ashtead Group and senior independent non-executive director of Infinis Energy. He is a chartered engineer and chairman of the Association of Consulting Engineers. 

John McArthur, chief executive officer, said: “As the founder of a major engineering group, Chris has direct experience of the transportation industry and is well versed in both M&A and international business which are key elements of our growth strategy.  On behalf of the board and the rest of our team, I welcome Chris and wish him every success with Tracsis.”

MARTYN Pullin has been promoted to partner at insolvency and recovery specialists BWC Business Solutions.

He joined BWC in 2008 and has worked alongside partner David Willis in establishing the firm’s Tees Valley office as well as contributing to the firm’s Harrogate office.

Having qualified as an accountant in 2005 and as an insolvency practitioner in 2010, Pullin has assisted numerous businesses and individuals facing financial difficulties across the North East and Yorkshire.

FAMILY-owned event services supplier Joe Manby, which this year celebrates 40 years in business, has appointed a new event co-ordinator.

Ben Atkinson has joined the Harrogate-based firm from Wetherby Racecourse where he was a sales and marketing assistant, managing non-racing events.

He will work with the senior management team to provide support to organisers and exhibitors on events.

Richard Manby, company director, said: “After a very busy start to the year, we are delighted to have Ben joining us. His expertise and enthusiasm will be a great asset and he is a highly beneficial addition to the company.”

HEALTH and social care law firm Hempsons has welcomed back employment law specialist Andrew Davidson as a partner in its Harrogate office.

Davidson, who is moving from Capsticks, has a wealth of NHS employment law experience, having spent the majority of his career advising NHS and other public sector HR teams.

He will be working closely with employment law specialists Martin Cheyne and Paul Spencer to develop Hempsons’ Harrogate and Manchester offices’ already growing client base, as well as working alongside them to serve a number of key HR team clients nationwide.

Davidson specialises in TUPE, redundancy, discrimination, disciplinary investigations and dismissals, and the Maintaining High Professional Standards framework.

He regularly defends clients in employment tribunals and his experience also spans into the wider public sector, private sector, charities and social enterprises.
