In Brief: Servelec; Unison; Bondholders; Leeds Met

SERVELEC Healthcare, part of the South Yorkshire-based Servelec group, has been awarded preferred supplier status for two NHS Trusts to announce their choice of software provider for Mental Health or Community Health services under the Camden framework.

Servelec Healthcare has now been chosen by seven out of eight of the NHS Trusts which have selected their preferred supplier using the Camden Framework.

The Camden Framework is the main mechanism by which Trusts currently running RiO under the British Telecom Local Service Provider contract can exit from the National Programme in London and the South of England, providing each organisation with the ability to choose their supplier.

Alan Stubbs, CEO of Servelec, said: “We are delighted to be seeing Trusts selecting RiO V7 earlier than anticipated which underpins our confidence in both the capability of our products and our ability to continue to win further contracts under the Camden Framework and elsewhere.”

UNISON has won a major tube bending machinery order from British Airways.

The order is for use in its Heathrow-based aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility.

Scarborough-based Unison’s managing director, Alan Pickering, said: “This turnkey solution demands tight integration of hardware and software resources to create a seamless production environment for efficient on-demand manufacture of specialist precision parts. By assigning responsibility for the performance of the entire installation to Unison, British Airways can be confident that its tube fabrication requirements are fully met from the outset.”

TENS of thousands of business travellers passing through Humberside Airport are being greeted by powerful messages promoting the Humber to potential investors.

The Bondholders marketing organisation, which promotes the Humber region, has worked in partnership with the airport to install signage at key points within the terminal.

The signage promotes key messages including the Humber’s vital importance as an energy provider; that the estuary is the country’s busiest ports complex; and that the region has the UK’s largest port-side development sites, many of them enjoying enterprise zone benefits. Other signs promote Hull as the UK City of Culture 2017 and the scale of food production in the region.

More than 230,000 travellers fly in or out of the airport every year – the vast majority visiting on business and most of those to do business within the region.

A NEW research centre bringing together academic expertise, research, consultancy and advice on governance, leadership and global responsibility has been launched at Leeds Metropolitan University.

The centre aims to act as a hub within Leeds Met for collaborative research across the University, examining global issues in governance and responsibility, across all sectors. It will focus on three key elements: research to develop good practice; employability-focused teaching; and the development of practical tools for effective and responsible leadership behaviours and culture, and for government policy and practice.

Key research themes within the centre include: intercultural views of corporate responsibility and governance in China; responsibility in the tourism industry; and how leadership and responsibility are best integrated into the Higher Education curriculum.
