THE commercial property team at Leeds-based law firm Fox Hayes has acted on behalf of restaurateurs Jonathan Hall and Marcus Bennett, in a joint venture for the acquisition of the lease for The Bay Horse Pub and Restaurant in Hurworth, Darlington.

Mr Hall is the founder of the Hide bar group and Mr Bennett has previously worked at two of the McCoy Brothers’ restaurants; as head chef at the Tontine in Northallerton and as chef proprietor at their Yarm restaurant.

The £300,000 refurbishment of The Bay Horse took inspiration from the new owners vision of ‘a real English pub’ and the fact that the listed building dates back to 1700.

All furnishings were sourced from antique fayres and salesrooms around the country, including a late Victorian dining table which measures over 20ft in the private dining room.
