Liquidation for troubled holiday company

LUXURY holiday specialist Villa Parade has been placed into liquidation following a meeting of shareholders yesterday.
A subsequent meeting of creditors approved the appointment of Christopher Brooksbank of O’Haras as liquidator.
Cleckheaton-based O’Haras is now tasked with investigating the downfall of the Huddersfield company Air Parade, which traded as Luxury Villa Escapes and Villa Parade.
Thousands of holidaymakers were affected following the company’s collapse.
Mr Brooksbank said that O’Haras had received “many calls” from worried customers of the firm.
“We have reassured customers that their money will be repaid to them, whether by ABTA, ATOL or the credit card companies. My staff will now be able to conduct a fair and judicial review of the circumstances which led to the failure of this company and the losses sustained by its customers,” he said.
The company rented out exclusive villas in the Mediterranean, mainly Majorca and Portugal, and also ran subsidiary company Air Parade, specialising in flights.
Prior to its collapse, Villa Parade was being investigated by industry watchdog ABTA for alleged breaches of its code of conduct following allegations the firm was offering rentals on properties it could not honour.
