Event management partner for Grand Départ media centre announced

AN events company in Leeds has been announced as the team that will create the media centre at the Grand Depart next month.

Wellpleased Events has been called on to build the media centre in MEPC’s Wellington Place in Leeds city centre, which will welcome more than 2500 journalists and broadcasters from the world’s press.

It will also host over 800 official branded race vehicles.

Sam Welply, owner of Wellpleased Events, said: “We were thrilled to win the contract and have been working hard to over-deliver on our commitments to the ASO, Leeds City Council and Welcome to Yorkshire. We’re going to do Yorkshire and the UK proud.”

Simon Spikin, operations director at Wellpleased Events said “The temporary structures cover a surface area of over 5400sq m and will provide a telecommunications and office base for every press member covering the race so it’s no mean feat.”
