Start-up destined to be "showered" with success

A THIRSK-based firm has launched a range of innovative glass shower doors, enclosures and trays that promise to ban leaks forever.
Unishower hope to sell more than 10,000 products a year and has already secured supply contracts with a number of bathroom showrooms and plumbers merchants.
The showers are the brainchild of Jeremy Lenighan, who after years of designing bathroom products for other companies decided to combine his experience and create a unique product.
After securing £100,000 of working capital with RBS and persuading his father Peter – fellow designer and founder of one of Yorkshire’s largest bathroom showrooms Royal Flush – to join him Unishower was born.
According to Mr Lenighan the unique features of the shower’s overlapping, frameless glass doors and rotating wall profiles not only provide an easy fit but can be attached at a variety of angles to supporting walls.
The design prevents water leaks between the doors and enables them to be used for wet rooms or dedicated shower trays.
The range of related shower trays also have a special shoulder along the edge which ensures that the water stays in the enclosure while showering. European patents have been secured for each of Unishower’s products.
“We are very excited about the launch of Unishower and its products. It is the culmination of years of hard work,” said Mr Lenighan.
“The products have already been well received by the marketplace and we are really excited about the future. We are grateful to RBS for their advice and support throughout this process.”
Jeremy Rebbeck, relationship manager for commercial banking at RBS, said: “Jeremy has come up with a great concept and exciting product range that we are very happy to support.
“Both Jeremy and Peter have an excellent track record in building a business and have a great understanding of the marketplace. We look forward to working with Unishower as they expand.”
