Pie maker lands national contract

A YORKSHIRE pie maker will be making an extra 10,000 a pies a week, thanks to a new contract with The Co-operative.
Family-run The Topping Pie Company, based in Doncaster, is now supplying pies and quiches to 200 Co-operative stores.
The national win forms part of The Topping Pie Company’s long-term growth strategy, which included £500,000 of investment to double the size of its bakery to service the major multiple market.
Jobs could also be created as a result of the contract.
Roger Topping, managing director, said: “We have enjoyed strong growth over the last few years, despite the economic downturn and are thrilled that our pies are now available nationally through The Co-operative.”
Ric Griffith-Read, category buyer at The Co-operative, said: “We’re pleased to be working with The Topping Pie Company and we’re always happy to support local, family-run suppliers such as this one.”
