Law firm launches £150,000 training academy

LAW firm Beaumont Legal has invested in a new £150,000 training academy.

The Wakefield-based firm says this is to produce the next generation of legal professionals and advance the skills of those already working with the firm.

In the past 18 months, annual turnover at the firm passed £5m and staff numbers almost trebled.

Nick Masheder, partner and head of conveyancing, said: “We have huge growth ambitions and as part of this it’s not only vital that we can attract the best recruits but also that we support them and help them advance within the firm. There are limited numbers of solicitor training contracts around, so we are looking at taking talented individuals into the business, investing in them and supporting them with our Training Academy to help them build their career and the firm. We want to provide the best quality and opportunity for graduates in the region.”

Sarah Thornton, the firm’s training manager, added: “With such a complex area ahead of them in conveyancing, there is a lot for new recruits to learn and we need to be absolutely sure they are competent and can experience all the different scenarios that can potentially arise in conveyancing. We feel it is vital to support the team to guide trainees through the process every step of the way.

“The digital revolution has changed the way people access property services requirements and we’re constantly adapting our systems to help make things easier for all our clients. Ensuring our trainees are fully up to speed on the latest issues in real time is vital for our customers and the training academy will aid this.”
