A call to Yeadon could bring rewards

CALL centre staff at Jet2holidays.com are to star in an unusual marketing campaign after their local accents got a thumbs up from the public.

The Leeds-based tour operator, which has just moved its call centre back from Delhi to Yeadon with the creation of 30 new jobs, is offering a series of “rewards” for customers who have their calls answered by selected staff.

The radio and press campaign, which runs until mid November, will enable everyone making a booking to receive a reward, ranging from a Jet2 upgrade if Claire answers the call, 50 Euros holiday money if Lucy picks up the phone, or 10% cash back if Steve is at the end of the line.

And for the lucky caller to be put through to Richard Bodin, managing director of Jet2holidays.com there will be a free holiday.

“Bringing the call centre back to Yorkshire has been a double bonus for us – not only have we created 30 new jobs, but the local accent has been a huge hit with callers,” said Mr Bodin.

“Most of our staff are from the region and the Yorkshire accent came top in a focus group poll we’ve just completed on the service provided by the call centre team.

“So we’re now going to use the staff themselves in a marketing campaign which starts next week where we’re offering special offers depending on which staff member you speak to.”

For call centre team leader knowing that the Yeadon centre is having such a positive impact so quickly into its creation is good to know.

“Given the business we’re in, a lot of us like the sound of our own voice, so a few of the team are made up that we’re going to be starring on the radio – watch out Chris Moyles,” she said.
