Conference centre recipe for success

THE demand for locally sourced products at regional conference venues has prompted a Bradford centre to introduce organic-inspired fare specially for business delegates across Yorkshire.

Bradford-based Speedmaster Conference Centre, has seen demand for locally-sourced produce soar and has employed a a Wetherby company to introduce a more organic and ethical offering as part of its meeting and conference packages.

The unique-motoring themed venue has teamed up with The Catering People to bring some of the region’s best meat, bread, fruit and vegetables to West Yorkshire’s businesses.

The new menu now means that corporate customers at Speedmaster Conference Centre are served the very best meat from Sheffield butchers, bread from a Bradford bakery, fair-trade drinks as well as an array of fruit and vegetables sourced from across the county.

Andrea Calvert, manager at Speedmaster Conference Centre said: “We’ve found that companies are increasingly looking to do their bit for the environment and simply requesting more locally-sourced food can help save food miles. We’ve noticed over the past six months that companies have become more aware of this and are also looking for refreshments that are a lot healthier so we’re delighted to now offer the finest locally-sourced food which is not only deliciously fresh, but good for the environment as well.

“We pride ourselves on the quality facilities at Speedmaster Conference Centre and we’re pleased to be able to offer a range of menus all boasting some of Yorkshire’s much-loved produce.”

Some of the region’s leading organisations, such as Bradford Chamber of Commerce, are already tucking into the new menu which will change regularly to reflect seasonal produce.

Andrew North, operations director at The Catering People said: “The trend for buying local produce is growing and we have strong links with a range of suppliers across Yorkshire to help us deliver a wide choice of quality, local food.

“The new partnership with Speedmaster Conference Centre means that we’ll be working closely to develop a quality menu to offer to conferences, events and meetings held at the venue.”
