Caddick Developments expands into wind power
CADDICK Developments, part of the Caddick Group, has erected its first wind turbine in Knottingley, marking its diversification into the wind energy market.
The 47 metre turbine will supply renewable energy directly to the nearby Caddick Construction head office, providing all of the building’s annual power requirements.
Myles Hartley, director at Wetherby-based Caddick Developments, said: “The wind turbine at Knottingley marks a milestone for Caddick Developments and the group as a whole. It’s our first step into the renewable energy sector and we are expanding further with this technology on other sites around the UK.
“Wind is a reliable and efficient renewable energy option and the installation at Knottingley contributes to our sustainability targets and provides energy security for the future. We have a number of other single turbine projects at an advanced stage around the country and foresee that renewables will become an important part of the Group’s business in the coming years, in addition to our core property development activities.”
Andrew Murray, managing director at Caddick Construction, added: “This marks a milestone for Caddick Group. Providing energy for all of the lighting and heating needs of the office is great and works towards making the construction team’s office self-sustainable.

Caddick Developments specialises in the acquisition, development and management of commercial, residential and retail projects around the UK.
Caddick Construction and Caddick Civil Engineering are the operational arms of Caddick Group, which employs almost 500 people and has a turnover of £90m.
