Excel to help North Yorkshire firms get connected

EXCEL Telecom has been selected as a partner in a major initiative to deliver super-fast broadband services to businesses in North Yorkshire.

The Wetherby-based firm Excel Telecom will support the NYnet project – an EU funded collaboration between North Yorkshire County Council and Yorkshire Forward to being broadband to rural North Yorkshire – by providing the technology that will integrate the new service into business premises.

The partnership forms part of Excel Telecom’s wider strategy of delivering next-generation broadband and telephony services throughout North Yorkshire.

Excel’s managing director John Ledingham-Smith said: “We are delighted to be working with NYnet on this ground-breaking project.

“Broadband has become an essential part of our daily lives and NYnet really marks the beginning of a new chapter for businesses in North Yorkshire.

“It will enable us to deliver a much wider range of cost-effective internet and telephony services to around 50,000 businesses across the region, helping them to be more competitive in today’s hi-tech environment.”

David Cullen, CEO of NYnet said that the partnership would provide business-to-business services much needed by smaller firms across North Yorkshire.

“NYnet offers such partners better, faster and cheaper connectivity, which means Excel is better able to provide cost-effective next-generation technology solutions that deliver real benefits to businesses,” he added.

“Through this initiative, NYnet, Excel and the businesses served can jointly make a truly positive impact on the economic development of the sub-region.”
