Appointments: Clarion; Clough & Company; Langleys; BHP

LEEDS law firm Clarion has appointed three trainee solicitors.

Sadie Brook, Zoe Roberts and Grace Allison are the latest recruits to embark on a two year training contract with Clarion during which time they will gain experience in at least four departments.

Brook initially joins the litigation team. A graduate of Nottingham University with a degree in History, she went on to complete the GDL at the College of Law in York and the LPC at BPP in Leeds.

Roberts’ first placement is with the corporate team. She completed an English degree at Liverpool University in 2008 before working for TheBusinessDesk.com for four years. She then went on to complete the GDL at Leeds Met in 2012 and her LPC at BPP Leeds in July 2013.

Allison has been working as a paralegal at Clarion in the property department after completing her LPC which she studied part time. She graduated from University of Leeds with a BA in European Union Studies with Law and then worked part time in the Citizens Advice Bureau as a trainee debt adviser before completing the GDL at BPP Law School, Leeds.

CHARTERED accountancy firm Clough & Company has expanded its team with six new appointments across a number of its divisions.

Sam Batch joins Clough Management Services as a management accountant while Clough & Company’s audit division has made two new appointments with Wei Song joining as an audit senior after relocating to Yorkshire from Ipswich and Thomas Conway joins as an audit assistant.

Bethany Naylor joins as a trainee chartered accountant after graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University and Rebecca Dixon joins the firm on a 12-month placement from Leeds University where she is studying for a maths degree.

Lottie Smith has been appointed as a client administrator supporting Chartford Financial Management’s team of independent financial advisors, after previously working at a Huddersfield-based financial services company.

MELISSA Strong has been appointed as a senior associate in the insurance division at Langleys Solicitors in York.

Strong is an experienced insurance lawyer and joins the law firm from Lester Aldridge in Bournemouth where she was a senior associate for three years.

Prior to her role there she worked for Clyde & Co, Bond Pearce and Hill Dickinson.

She has particular experience in the field of health and safety and has been instructed in a number of high profile investigations and prosecutions, often on behalf of the HSE. She also specialises in defendant personal injury, professional negligence and dispute resolution.

BHP Chartered Accountants has appointed Amanda Noble-Simmons to head of marketing and business development.

Noble-Simmons has extensive professional services marketing experience with a career that spans 18 years, having worked in Gibraltar, the Cayman Islands and the UK, for a Big Four accountant and international law firms.

John Warner, managing partner, said: “The partners are excited to welcome Amanda to the firm and look forward to seeing the output of her leadership and extensive experience in the form of enhanced client care, innovative ideas and marketing programmes that can take the firm even further forward in its future growth plans.”

Noble-Simmons is responsible for marketing and business development across all five of BHP’s offices in Sheffield, Leeds, York, Chesterfield and Harrogate.
