4×4 Accessories & Tyres drives forward with funding

NEW land is being bought by 4×4 Accessories & Tyres as it embarks on an expansion drive following a funding boost.

Based on the A1 at Leeming Bar Industrial Estate in North Yorkshire, 4×4 Accessories and Tyres imports vehicle parts and accessories from Europe and Asia which it distributes to customers in the UK and EU. These include pick-up truck bed liners, side steps, alloy wheels, truck canopies and front bars.

Established in 1993, the company initially traded from small office premises in Ripon, North Yorkshire before moving to its premises on the industrial estate.

The business currently operates from five separate warehouses across two neighbouring sites.

Tim Snowden, managing director of 4×4 Accessories & Tyres, had been looking at ways to improve operational efficiency and profits by allowing operations to be based in one much larger location.

He said: “The new site has over four acres of space, which is double what we currently have. It can accommodate circa 150,000 sq.ft of storage and distribution space which will allow for future expansion of the business. Much of our stock is quite bulky so it’s important that we have premises which can accommodate this. Our current two acre site is fully developed and we are full to the gills.”

He added: “The new site gives us more options and flexibility and ultimately we can offer our clients better choice and in some cases shorter lead times or bespoke logistics – We can offer bulk storage instead of using the clients own facilities “.

4×4 Accessories also made a contribution toward the local Bedale – Aiskew foot path and cycle way scheme.

It is hoped two to three new jobs will be created with the expansion.

NatWest relationship manager Chris Matthewman provided 4×4 Accessories & Tyres with funding to support the industrial land acquisition.

He said: “I was delighted to support 4×4 Accessories & Tyres as it looks to expand. It’s a great business and I wish them every success for the future.”
