Rise in consumer confidence drives up revenue for The Car People

AN increase in consumer confidence has helped The Car People boost pre-tax profit by £981,000 while the group saw turnover rise 13.6%.

The Wakefield-based chain of car showrooms saw turnover soar to £153.8m in the year to April, up from £135.3m last time, while pre-tax profit rose came in at £3.6m to £4.6m.

It said the new car market increased 10% in the period while it noted a general increase in consumer confidence in the market place.

“Sales for the new financial year are continuing to increase and our results speak for themselves in a market which is growing but in which the consumer is still looking for value, service and confidence in their choice of vehicle, finance and aftersales package and customer service offering,” The Car People said in its latest set of results filed at Companies House.
