Yorkshire Water awards JV

YORKSHIRE Water has awarded an estimated £75m contract over five years to construction and regeneration group Morgan Sindall and design and management consultancy Grontmij, which has its UK headquarters in the region.

The joint venture between Morgan Sindall’s construction and infrastructure division and Grontmij has won a second AMP5 framework from the water company.

The framework, which will cover projects ranging from £5m to £50m in value, includes clean and waste water schemes.

The work will comprise initial feasibility assessment through to design and construction, as well as commissioning and handover.

Paul Smith, chief executive of Morgan Sindall, said: “This framework award builds on Morgan Sindall’s long-standing relationship with Yorkshire Water and Grontmij which developed through the last asset management period.

“It further reinforces the group’s position as one of the country’s leading water and infrastructure specialists.”

Paul Whatley, regional director of water at Grontmij, said: “We are very pleased to be working on such a varied programme of activity, which is testament to the fact that our project teams continue to deliver fresh ideas and innovative approaches to the UK’s utility companies.”
