IT firm boosts #WeProtect project through National Child Abuse database

AN East Leeds IT company has delivered part of the National Child Abuse Image Database (CAID) project.

Garforth-based Claritas Solutions has worked with the Home Office to provide the security, hosting and hardware solution for the project which will speed up police investigations.

In addition to this, Claritas is providing a helpdesk for calls from UK police forces with CAID-related requests.

Its involvement was unveiled as the Prime Minister announced plans to tackle child abuse on the internet at the #WeProtect Children Global Summit in London.

The database has been designed to increase the speed of investigations, reduce the amount of police time and duplication of effort currently spent categorising images and save the police more than £7m in the next three years by speeding up police processes.
