HOUSEBUILDER Persimmon today said it delivered a strong performance in 2014.

In a trading update this morning, the York-headquartered group said during 2014 it delivered an increase of 17% in legal completions to 13,509 new homes (2013: 11,528). The 36% increase in the number of new homes delivered to the market by Persimmon over the last two years reflects the growth of the business in line with the objectives of the group’s long term strategic plan, it said.

The housebuilder added that the value of forward sales at the end of December 2014 of around £973m (2013: £908m) was 7% ahead of the prior year and provides strong momentum for the business moving into the new year.

Persimmon’s results for the year ended December 31 2014 will be announced next month.

SOFTWARE firm Belgravium has completed the acquisition of West Midlands security firm Access Fire and Security (AFS) for £500,000.

The deal was announced in December and Belgravium said that at completion, the AFS balance sheet included £203,000 of cash, £33,000 more than the amount contractually required. This will reduce the effective net cost of AFS to Belgravium.

John Kembery, chairman of Belgravium, said: “This is a small but strategically important deal since it is both earning enhancing and another step forward in the development for Feedback Data, acquired in 2013.”
