Creative: Brand8; Umpf; Approach PR

BRAND8 PR has won a contract from chartered surveyor and property consultant Sanderson Weatherall.

The Leeds agency has been tasked with providing integrated media relations, content marketing and social media services across Sanderson Weatherall’s nine regional offices to support the firm’s growth plans.

Sanderson Weatherall employs around 200 people and has a £14m turnover.

Sanderson Weatherall partner and head of marketing, David Rastrick, said: “Our objective was to find a PR agency with the capability to represent the firm effectively regionally and nationally, and work with our partners around the country.

“In addition, we wanted to appoint an agency with strong strategic thinking, an innovative approach to PR and genuine business acumen. Brand8 PR was able to demonstrate all of those things during the pitch process.”

Brand8 PR managing director, Rob Smith, said: “We are very proud to have been appointed by Sanderson Weatherall. The firm is ambitious, highly capable and offers a range of related services that many of its competitors do not, such as architecture.

“Our primary role is to build upon these foundations by further raising awareness of Sanderson Weatherall’s distinct, integrated proposition regionally and nationally within the sectors in which it operates. We’re looking forward to helping the firm achieve its commercial objectives.”

PR and social media agency Umpf has been appointed by American pet food company Canidae to launch its ‘Grain Free PURE’ dog and cat food brands in the UK.

Umpf will be providing strategic advice, trade and consumer PR – to include press office support and proactive traditional and digital campaigns – social media and event activation. Umpf will launch Canidae to the UK consumer market at Crufts this week.

Founded 18 years ago, Texas-based Canidae is a family-owned and run natural pet food company. Its products are grain-free and made from simple recipes which include just seven to ten carefully selected key ingredients with fresh meat, poultry or fish always being the first.

Canidae is being distributed in the UK by pet and aquatic wholesaler Pedigree Wholesale.

Steve Brown, managing director of Pedigree Wholesale, said: “We’ve lined up a fantastic distribution network for the Canidae dog and cat food Grain Free PURE brands. Our stockists are independent retailers, many who are themselves family-run and they’ve bought into the history of the company, its ownership and the philosophy of ‘fresh meat, whole foods and simple recipes.

“We’ve appointed Umpf to bring this story to life in print, online and through experiential activity. There is a huge potential in the UK for what is, for the moment at least, a challenger brand and we have some really exciting campaigns lined up to raise the profile of Canidae in the UK.”

ILKLEY-based Approach PR teamed up with the Go Graduate Opportunities Programme (GO) to host a career day aimed at helping university graduates kick start careers in communications and inspire a move into the field of public relations.

Managed by Approach PR’s senior account manager, Katy Barraclough, and account executive Anisha Mistry, the event gave the graduates practical advice on how to climb the PR career ladder, impress at interviews and to compile a creative portfolio of work.

“While Katy and I both work in the same team at Approach, we have arrived at our current positions via quite different routes. Katy began her working life in in-house charity PR following a degree in linguistics while I began my career in fashion PR, after graduating in fashion, media and promotion,” said Ms Mistry.

“We wanted to share our relevant experiences with the graduates to illustrate how a career in PR is possible with a variety of creative backgrounds.”

The Go Graduates Opportunities Programme is a DWP-funded programme which supports students and recent graduates in their job hunt.
