Bradford Council open to offers by development partners who can move quickly

Leeds City Region is presenting investors from across the world at MIPIM 2015 with its Big Six development opportunities, each with more than £80m worth of investment potential. Together they form the centerpiece of the city region’s £2.5bn development pipeline.

THE Bradford City Centre Growth Zone has already benefitted from £15m of capital investment and £30m spending on public realm since the zone was created just over two years ago.

The council is now looking to kick-start a number of schemes and is willing to be flexible to support the designs and desires of institutions interested in investing.

Potential investors in the scheme will be told: “Bradford is a city brimming with confidence and offers a range of great opportunities for employment as well as business across a diverse range of sectors.

“Despite the recent growth and investment in the city, the council has aspirations to grow even further and has set out ambitious development plans to make the city one of the best places to operate a business in the UK.

“The approach taken by the council will ensure that the city is a great place in which to invest.”

The opportunities include The Tyris, a site with outline planning permission for 95,000 sq ft of grade A office space for which the council either wants to find a development partner or a buyer this year.

Development partners are also being sought for 100,000 sq ft of commercial space at Exchange Court, which could include retail and leisure alongside offices.

Other opportunities in the Growth Zone include the former Yorkshire Water depot, a 2.5 acre gateway site which could be utilised by an individual occupier or developed alongside site owners Keyland Developments. The site currently has outline planning permission for a large mixed-use scheme including residential, office, hotel and leisure.
