London commercial law firm Excello chooses Leeds for its fourth office

COMMERCIAL law firm Excello has opened an office in Leeds, its fourth after London, Liverpool and its first international base in Sweden.

Expanding Excello required a dedicated office to its virtual offering.

The Leeds office will be run be a team led by corporate and commercial solicitor Andrew Hoyle, who formerly held senior positions at Ward Hadaway and Watson Burton.

Excello Law’s founder and managing director, George Bisnought, said: “Leeds is a centre of commercial and legal excellence where we already have a number of existing clients and solicitors. It is, therefore, the right time for us to cement our position in this vibrant market. We‟re committed to growing further in the region.”

The latest addition to Leeds is property litigation specialist, Philip O’Loughlin, who has been working in the city for over 20 years.

He has been national head of property litigation at Addleshaw Goddard and most recently a partner at HLW Keeble Hawson.

He brings a number of clients to Excello Law, including Leeds-based property investment firm Rushbond Plc, and property developer Westcourt Property Investment Group, to join existing Yorkshire-based clients, including Sheffield creative digital agency Rocket, online travel search business Shoptility, support worker and assistive technology supplier Clear Links Support, and digital broadcaster Airship.

Since opening in July 2009, Excello Law has attracted partner-level lawyers billing up to £500,000 each year from firms such as Allen & Overy, Baker & McKenzie, Freshfields, Linklaters, Mayer Brown and Norton Rose Fulbright and building a client list that includes Lambretta, Laura Ashley, Austin Reed, Bishopsgate Funding and Viyella.

Excello Law is also on a recruitment drive and is in active discussions with lawyers in the USA and UAE.

George Bisnought, former legal director at IT business Infor, said: “The virtual law firm model we started with has evolved considerably and we‟ve created an agile commercial law firm, comprising the brightest and best entrepreneurial lawyers, who enjoy the freedom to do what they do best: provide high-quality legal advice that represents genuine value for the client.

“For clients, the opportunity to access affordable pragmatic commercial legal advice from some of the UK‟s leading lawyers is unrivalled.

“With both clients and lawyers buying into our model, I expect further exponential growth over the coming year.”
