Appointments: Philip Ashworth joins Andrew Jackson

WELL-KNOWN corporate lawyer Philip Ashworth has joined regional law firm Andrew Jackson.

Mr Ashworth has jumped over to the firm after holding a partner position at Bond Dickinson.

He previously ran his own firm Philip Ashworth & Co before it merged with Dickinson Dees in 2007.

Mr Ashworth has advised on deals such as the sale of Energas in Hull to Air Liquide, and the sale of UK and Irish assets of Finnish chemicals group Dynea.

At Andrew Jackson, more appointments have been made. Helen Mellors has been appointed as commercial property partner, tax consultant Fiona Philips and paralegal Grace Howell will also work in the York office.

Mr Ashworth said: “It is a delight for me to return to the home of my client base and operations which was for many years in North and East Yorkshire. I am especially delighted to be joining Andrew Jackson and its ambitious partnership and helping the development of its York office.”

Restructuring and recovery partner, Gareth Harris, has been appointed at Baker Tilly’s Leeds office.

Mr Harris will lead the firm’s mid-market restructuring and advisroy service in Yorkshire, and head the professional services group for the region.

He has over 15 years of experience in mid-size and large corporatesas well as in support roles at banks including Barclays.

Berwins Solicitors has appointed Helen Dawson to its private clients team.

She previously held positions at Ison Harrison in Leeds and joins the Berwins Harrogate office.
