Restructure sees CEO appointed from acquired firm

OGDEN, the renewable energy group, has appointed a chief executive after a restructure which saw them absorb a consultancy.

Chris Paddey joins as equity partner and chief executive of Ogden, after his renewables consultancy PADD Energy, was acquired by the firm.

John Ogden, chairman of Ogden Energy Group, which specialises in solar and biomass energy, welcomed the addition of Mr Paddey’s two year-old consultancy.

He said that the acquisition provides Ogden Energy “with a consultancy arm to offer businesses practical advice on energy strategy including purchasing, efficiency and renewable technologies.”

The group that Mr Paddey will be heading up has other companies under its umbrella, including Think Renewable Energy, which has undertaken renewables projects for John Lewis, Lightwater Valley and Beverley Racecourse, and also Biomass Solutions, providing biomass for businesses.

Former managing partner of ERM, Mr Paddey sat on the firm’s EMEA board and worked on projects in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Previously he also held the global practice leader position at engineering firm Halcrow, part of American firm CH2M HILL. He managed a team of 200 for the company which had annual revenues of £20m.

Ogden Energy Group chairman John Ogden said: “Chris has worked in the power industry for more than 25 years, overseeing global projects and designing large scale power stations. His engineering skills and strategic approach will give us the capability to deliver major commercial and community energy projects alongside our other business energy services.”

Mr Paddey said: “The Ogden Energy Group is already a well-recognised name in the commercial clean energy market thanks to the success of Think Renewable Energy and this new structure will broaden its capabilities and appeal.”
