Yorkshire firms highlighted for strong growth in overseas sales

FIFTEEN companies from Yorkshire have featured on a list of the 200 UK businesses with the fastest growth in overseas sales.
The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 ranks companies with total sales of more than £25m that have international sales of at least £1m.
While 92 of the 200 companies are headquartered in London and the south east, Yorksire’s performance is comparable with 16 each from the Midlands and Scotland and 13 from the south west.
The Yorkshire companies featured have added 1,640 jobs in the last two years and now employ a total of 12,370 people. Their international sales have grown by an average of 40% a year over two years to a total of £980m, on combined sales of £2.2bn.
The highest-ranked company in Yorkshire is Stage One, in 13th place overall. The York company, led by managing director Mark Johnson, makes stage sets and scenic elements for the opening and closing ceremonies of global sports events, such as the London 2012 Olympics. International sales climbed 129% to £20.5m last year.
Eight companies make their debut on the list, including Wensleydale Dairy Products and R&R Ice Cream.
