Training provider opens first Manchester base

APPRENTICESHIP provider W Academy & Education is embarking on ambitious expansion plans, opening its first base outside of Yorkshire.

The business, which was established in 2012 chief executive Marc Wildes, has now expanded into Manchester city centre.

The Sheffield-based firm delivers training across occupational areas including customer services, business administration and hospitality and catering.

W Academy & Education recorded turnover of £1.4m in the year ending April 2015 and is aiming to double it.

The company supports 1,00 young people at any one time and has grown to a workforce of 60 staff, with plans to embark on a recruitment drive that would help grow its presence across the region.

W Academy & Education’s chief executive, Marc Wildes, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for W Academy to officially establish a presence in the Greater Manchester area, where we already know there is significant demand for our services.

“Whilst we have been operating locally for a couple of years now – largely dictated by the needs of businesses and learners who approached us as a result of word of mouth – we felt that the time had come to find our own office space which, in turn, will allow us to grow our team in official W surroundings.”
