Washing machine technology heads to Canada and the Caribbean

THE South Yorkshire company revolutionising washing machines is taking its technology across the Americas as it looks to build on its early successes.
Xeros has developed a patented solution to use polymer beads, which reduces water usage by 70% and energy needs by 50%, that makes it particularly attractive to commercial laundry operators such as hotels and leisure groups.
The company, which won the Innovator award at the 2015 Yorkshire Business Masters, has now expanded its commercial laundry footprint from the United States into Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America.
Bill Westwater, chief executive of Xeros, said: “We are hugely encouraged by Xeros’ expansion internationally, further evidencing the relevance and increasing acceptance of Xeros’ near-waterless and energy-saving cleaning solution in geographic markets that can no longer ignore issues around water scarcity and need for energy conservation.”
Xeros will be partnering with Michael St. Clair Fine Cleaners in Canada, a country which is seeking to accelerate its utility conservation efforts, and with Worldwide Laundry in the Caribbean and Latin American markets, where water shortages and high electricity costs make Xeros’s innovation especially attractive.
Mr Westwater added: “These agreements also demonstrate the success of our Forward Channel Partners programme, in which we create a broad sales and service network across the Americas of established laundry industry players.

“In a world that can no longer depend on traditional aqueous processes, Xeros offers unprecedented performance and value for customers.”
The AIM-listed company had seen its share price soar in the last year, rising from 99p a year ago to reach 357.5p at the end of April. It has since fallen back and closed last night at 236p, valuing the company at £150m.
