Listed energy firm wins slice of £31m London contract

ENERGY storage firm ITM Power has signed an agreement to deliver a hydrogen refuelling station down south.

The Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence has commissioned the Sheffield-based firm to deploy the station at Rainham, in London.

The CEME campus is located on one of the main East London arterial roads between London City Airport and the M25

The station will be deployed as part of the HyFIVE project and will open to the public in spring 2016.

HyFive, funded by the EUFuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, is a pioneering £31m project involving motor manufacturers, hydrogen fuel suppliers, the Mayor of London’s Office and energy consultancies to make hydrogen vehicles a viable and environmentally friendly choice for motorists across Europe.

ITM Power was selected by the Hydrogen London to be the hydrogen refuelling Station partner for London. This resulted in an award of contract to supply three ITM Power electrolyser-based refuelling stations.

Dr Graham Cooley, chief executive , ITM Power, commented: “ITM are delighted to announce the agreement with CEME. The deployment of a solar hydrogen refueling station at CEME will provide essential refueling infrastructure for East London.”
