Shepherd Group to focus on Portakabin as it completes sale of two divisions

SHEPHERD GROUP has completed the sale of its engineering services and facilities management to Wates Group.
Also included in the deal are “a significant number of contracts and strategic frameworks from Shepherd Construction” as the York-based group narrows its focus onto growing its Portakabin business across Europe.
The sale was announced in May after six months of discussions and since then the two family-owned businesses have been working together through a transition period, which is now complete.
David Williams, Shepherd Group’s chairman said: “The deal supports Shepherd Group’s long-term growth strategy of focusing future investment on the areas of the group with significant sustainable development opportunities.
“In particular, the sale will enable Shepherd Group to further develop its successful Portakabin business which operates throughout the UK and Europe.”
Shepherd Group was advised by Paul Trickett, Matthew Nicholson and Maninder Minhas in Deloitte’s corporate finance team in Leeds, alongside Sue Holmes and Matt Pickard who provided tax advice. Tim Wheldon, James Tatro and Luke Aylett of Addleshaw Goddard provided legal advice.
