Appointments: Hentons, PwC, BHP Consulting

LEEDS accountants Hentons have appointed former director at PwC, David Caseldine, as partner.

The firm intends to broaden its offering in the healthcare sector as the firm grows its portfolio of clients in the healthcare sector across Leeds and Sheffield.

David Caseldine, partner at Hentons said: “Hentons brings a fresh challenge, with a partner led approach that is driving rapid growth. I join an entrepreneurial team that is well known for adding value to its clients thanks to business nous.”

YORKSHIRE consulting leader at PwC Madeleine Thomson has been appointed as the firm’s UK leader of industry for retail & consumer.

Her role will cover the firm’s assurance, deals, tax and consulting practices, whilst continuing to be based in Leeds.

She will be working with Randal Casson, PwC’s Yorkshire retail leader.

She joined PwC in 1994, spending two years supporting the management board at the BBC, as well as working with brands such as M&S, Asda, Greggs, Northern Foods, Wilkos and Greencore.

Ms Thomson said:”Yorkshire is a hotbed of retail big hitters and over the past decade I have been lucky to work with some country’s most well-known brands, which has positioned me well to take up this national role.

“The retail sector is going through a time of unprecedented change and is challenged by increasingly digitally savvy consumers. But retailers are doing some great things to adapt to these challenges by innovating and disrupting the market, so it is an exciting time to be leading this sector for PwC.”

THREE business leaders have joined BHP Chartered Accountants in their consulting division.

The additions to the team include Rachel Hannan, formerly a consultant at PwC’s global HR Solutions practice who also founded, grew and exited two businesses, as well as Richard Simpson of £50m-turnover firm Shred It, and David Manley, who has experience in the private equity, mergers and acquisitions markets.

The trio join head of consulting David Mitchell and former managing director of Andrew Page.

Mr Mitchell said: “The real strength comes from our collective experience. As a team we can offer clients a depth and diversity of practical experience, having been there and done it ourselves, we can cover all key areas of consulting needed by business owners who want to grow their companies.

“We focus in supporting businesses with their overall strategy and sales growth activities and specialise particularly in their operational, customer base and human capital development.”
