Sheffield lawyer found murdered in the Caribbean

A FORMER Sheffield lawyer has been found murdered in the Caribbean on the island of Tobago.

The bodies of Richard Wheeler and his wife Grace were found by a gardener after a suspected robbery that had turned violent.

Mr Wheeler was a partner in the Tobago office of Lex Law, and a member of the Tobago Chamber of Commerce.

He was a lawyer for 40 years and had worked in Sheffield in the 1990s, before taking up a job with the Hong Kong government.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service spokesperson said: “An initial assessment suggests robbery as the possible motive as the bedroom and living room areas were ransacked.

“However, all avenues are being explored and all leads pursued.”

The Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago issued a statement according to the Trinidad Express. It said: “The Association condemns this most vicious attack and calls for an immediate and thorough investigation into the double murder and calls upon the public to assist the police in providing the necessary information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.”
