Housebuilder announces major development plans for 2016

IN what it said will be a “major boost” to the Yorkshire economy, housebuilder Barratt Developments Yorkshire East is planning on launching 18 sites in 2016.

The company, which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, said that the sites would underpin 1,639 jobs in the region including 87 apprenticeships.

The newly-launched sites include the Saxon Gate development in Stamford Bridge, and Barratt Homes’ and David Wilson Homes’ Barley Fields site in Barlby.

Paul Newman, managing director at Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, said: “The demand for new homes has soared over the past year in the region, and we are aiming to address this demand with a number of new developments across the region.

“Not only will this provide more choice for local buyers looking to get on or move up the housing ladder, it’s also great news for the local economy, with a number of local construction jobs underpinned by the development of these new homes.

“The housing market in East Yorkshire is growing year on year, and it’s our hope that these new developments will help meet the demand for quality homes in the area.”

David Wilson Homes is also developing sites in the Harrogate area, Grange Park in Hampsthwaite and The Pastures in Knaresborough, and completed The Chocolate Works development in York at teh site of the old Terry’s Chocolate Factory in 2015.
