Appointments: Langcliffe Merger Connect, Shulmans, RFL Board

M&A BROKER Langcliffe Merger Connect has hired two staff members to boost its senior team.

Former PwC corporate financier Tom Bottomley joins Langcliffe Merger Connect to focus on UK private equity firms and their portfolio of buy and build investee companies. He will be based at the firm’s offices in Ilkley and split his time between there and London.

Marketing manager Helen Robinson joins the team to develop its marketing strategy. SHe was formerly an account director at Harrogate based B2B PR agency Northern Lights PR and the head of marketing at Leeds digital marketing agency Jonny Ross Consultancy.

Over the past year the firm has doubled the size of its team, which helps corporate buyers and private equity firms identify suitable acquisition targets.

Stuart Lumb of ShulmansCORPORATE law firm Shulmans LLP has appointed Stuart Lumb to its planning team.

Mr Lumb was previously a senior planning lawyer at Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. He specialises in planning agreements, enforcement and policy and he brings a wealth of expertise in the completion of complex agreements under the Town and Country Planning Act and the Highways Act.

His appointment strengthens Shulmans’ planning department, led by Amanda Beresford.

THE managing director of Metro Bank, Chris Brindley, has been appointed as non-executive director to the RFL Board.

He has previously worked as managing director for NatWest, North of England and Scotland, and has been a national sales director within British Gas.

He is the current chairman of the County Sports Partnership, GreaterSport, having responsibility for grassroots sport throughout Greater Manchester. He is also a non-executive chairman of Total Swimming and Total Gymnastics, as well as a non-executive Director of the Manchester Football Association.

Leeds-based RFL chairman Brian Barwick, said: “I welcome Chris to the RFL Board. He has a wealth of financial, commercial and marketing experience which has won industry-wide recognition.

“He also has played a major role in community sport ‎and been recognised for his senior management skills. Chris is experienced, energetic and enthusiastic and I’m sure he will make his mark on the sport of Rugby League.”
