Mobile acquisition for roaming company Cellhire

MOBILE roaming products supplier Cellhire has acquired two companies as it looks to expand its presence in the market.

It has acquired 0044.co.uk and dataroam.co.uk for an undisclosed sum, bringing in their managing director Angus MacLeod under the Cellhire umbrella. He joins the firm as head of online business development in the UK.

Both companies supply voice and data products to the mobile sector, and complement the divisions of Cellhire that offer similar products.

York-based Cellhire turns over £22m annually, and is now focusing on its online business after having increased online sales in the UK by a reported 100% in 12 months.

Tim Williams, chief executive at Cellhire said: “We have made some excellent progress online in the last twelve months and we want to ensure that we maintain this momentum.

“Bringing 0044 and its sister company Dataroam in to the Cellhire family is an obvious progression to grow our market share and reinforce our position as market leader in the mobile roaming sector.”

Angus MacLeod, head of online business development for Cellhire UK and former MD of 0044 said: “I’m delighted to join the Cellhire team and share my knowledge and passion for the UK roaming sector within the business. I’m committed to growing the business’ UK brands and increasing Cellhire’s market share online.”

Cellhire supplies to organisers and businesses during events such as the Olympic Games, FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro finals and The Cannes Film Festival.

Last year the business opened up a branch in Brazil, just in time for the Rio Olympics and Paralympics in August this year.
