Flying Scotsman returns heading straight for York

FOLLOWING a £4.2m refit, the Flying Scotsman has set off on its latest journey.

Taking a route from Kings Cross, where crowds had gathered to see the famous locomotive off, it took the East Coast Mainline, heading for York.

Once it arrives at its destination, it will go on display at the National Railway Museum.

It was built in 1922 for £7,944, before being taken out of service in the 1960s.

The Scotsman was built in the Doncater Works factory, and has now travelled more than 2.5m miles.
