George Galloway’s company owed £100,000 when it went bust

MIRANDA MEDIA went into compulsory liquidation owing £100,284.76 to HM Revenue and Customs, documents have shown.
The company was a vehicle of former Bradford West MP George Galloway. It handled income from Mr Galloway’s deals, including as a presenter on London-based Iranian television channel Press TV.
Joint liquidators at accountancy firm Haslers found that handover papers included the sum which was owed to and received by HMRC.
The Telegraph reported that the tax authorities had taken Miranda Media to court over the sum owed.
Mr Galloway has told the paper that the estimated money owed was “ridiculous” and that it was closer to £40,000.
He has instructed lawyers to enter negotiations with those of the liquidators, who have spent more than £25,000 on the investigation of the company’s finance as of the May 2015 liquidator’s report.
Liquidators Stratford Hamilton and Nicholas Nicholson of Haslers said information coming from Mr Galloway on the situation was “limited”.
