Law firm commits to Leeds

CRIMINAL negligence and personal injury law firm Plexus is taking an additional 12,000 sq ft as it commits to Leeds as its base.

Plexus is renewing the lease on its 32,000 sq ft offices at Joseph’s Well, which was originally built for Leeds clothing magnate and former Mayor of Leeds Sir John Barran, who acquired Roundhay Park for the city.

The law firm, which was part of the Parabis Group, was one of a number of firms that were placed in administration last year.

The business was sold to a new entity set up by Parabis founder Andrew McDougall.

The rent is £16.75 per sq ft inclusive of all service charges on a 15-year lease.

The landlords J Pullan and Sons are undertaking a refurbishment and fit-out of all the 44,000 sq ft of office space.

Andrew McDougall, Plexus Law chief executive, commented: “We are delighted to have secured our Leeds office base in Joseph’s Well for the foreseeable future.

“Having been tenants for 15 years already, we know the building well and it is an ideal location for our expanding operations in the region in a greatly improved format for the business to perform.

“Working with the landlord, we have agreed a long-term property transaction that allows us to improve our accommodation and adapt to the changing business needs that the legal industry is witnessing.

“This is the first part of the Plexus property strategy that is being developed across all our existing locations with Leeds being a key hub within our national office framework,” added Mr McDougall.

Bruce Strachan, property director of Pullan’s, commented: “The Plexus Law deal underlines the continuing popularity of Joseph’s Well and we are delighted an existing tenant is so positive about their offices that they have taken significant extra space, as many tenants have done before them.”

Property agents WSB have been appointed to the building. The joint marketing agents with WSB for Joseph’s Well are the Leeds office of Carter Towler.

Farebrother represented Plexus Law.
