THE corporate division at LCF Law has grown with the appointment of associate Cathy Cook.

Ms Cook has 20 years experience in the industry, specialising in retail.

Prior to her appointment at LCF Law, Ms Cook worked for Addleshaw Goddard. SHe was head of commercial law at regional fir Jordans, and worked in-house at Leeds-based Callcredit.

Susan Clark, who heads up LCF Law’s corporate team, said: “We generate 20% of the firm’s turnover and are a very busy, professional corporate and commercial team that is well-known in Bradford, Leeds, Ilkley and more recently Harrogate, having merged with Barber Titleys.

“Cathy’s appointment will strengthen our team to five highly respected solicitors, and her knowledge of the retail sector will be a welcome addition to the services our thriving department provides.”

HUDDERSFIELD law firm Eaton Smith has hired two to its family law team.

Keith Kershaw specialises in representing children, parents and carers, as well as relatives in care proceedings.

Katherine Stephenson has also joined Eaton Smith’s Family Law team, she qualified as a solicitor in 2008 and is experienced in representing children, parents and carers in care proceedings. Both are members of the Law Society Children Panel.

A MAJOR metal and castings business has added to its foundry team.

Castings Technology International, based at the Advanced Manufacturing Park in South Yorkshire has added Graham Jagger to its team.

Mr Jagger joins as an iron castings consultant, helping provide independent R&D, technical support and services at the business.

He has previously managed one of CTI’s business units, and started his career as an apprentice pattern maker in 1965, becoming a shop floor technician and technical and development engineer before moving into management 35 years ago.

He has spent more than 20 years as a foundries manager and helped the business expand into new markets and increase its manufacturing capabilities as technical manager, before becoming the joint owner and technical director of an iron foundry in West Yorkshire.

Mr Jagger said: : “My experience has been gained on the ground, on a day to day business, producing castings, managing foundries and managing people.
“My role at Cti will be to support iron foundries in whatever way I can.

“These are challenging times for UK iron foundries, but there are opportunities for them to thrive if they are prepared to target low volume, niche markets, versatile technologies and supply the full spectrum of iron based materials including Compacted Graphite Iron and Austempered Ductile Iron, which engineers are increasingly utilising, the latter of which can replace steel in some applications.”

SHEFFIELD recruitment firm Affecto has appointed Chris Dixon to its team.

The specialist technology recruitment business works with fast-growth startups as well as established companies

He will be based at Affecto’s Sheffield office where he will work within the company’s software & web development division, focussing on sourcing software engineers and web developers for clients across the region.
