Former PwC director launches specialist tax business

THE former head of PwC’s tax disputes team in the UK has launched his own tax dispute and investigations practice.

Ronnie Pannu was based in the PwC offices on Leeds’ Wellington Street, and was with the business for 20 years.

Now Mr Pannu is setting up Pannu Tax, which was incorporated in July 2015, to advise entrepreneurs and SMEs. Before this Mr Pannu was a tax inspector with HMRC.

Mr Pannu said:”Since I first started specialising in tax dispute work over 25 years ago, I’ve seen phenomenal change in the tax landscape and the attitude of successive governments and the tax authorities to collecting tax revenues.

“The pressure and focus on HMRC to clamp down on tax avoidance and evasion since 2008 has seen a real change of approach and hardening of attitude to those it believes have paid less than their “fair share” whether that’s deliberately or unintentionally.

“The reality is that when faced with this approach from the taxman many individuals and businesses are unable to access the best quality specialist advice to defend themselves from what can be time consuming, costly and stressful situations.

“I’ve set Pannu Tax up to meet this demand for quality, independent support and deep specialist experience but at a cost which makes it relevant to all businesses and individuals and their advisors.”
