Business crime specialist expands

YORKSHIRE-based business crime legal firm Rahman Ravelli is opening an office in Birmingham.

Rahman Ravelli, which was founded in Halifax and has a London office, has appointed Midlands-based Amrik Bilkhu to run its Birmingham base.

Aziz Rahman, the firm’s founder, said: “Opening in Birmingham is a logical step for us to take. Our existing offices ensure we cover the north, London and the south but Birmingham’s location makes it an ideal place for us.

“It is a lively, vibrant city that offers access to so many other areas. Having a base here will be good both for us and for our present and future clients.
“We see this as an important step in Rahman Ravelli’s development. It helps us ensure we continue to make ourselves even more accessible to those people who need robust, proactive defence when they are facing financial and business crime allegations.”

Mr Rahman added that he chose Amrik Bilkhu to head the Birmingham operation due to his experience and track record of success.

He said: “Amrik comes to us with experience of defending many people in prosecutions brought by the Serious Fraud Office, Crown Prosecution Service and all manner of other state authorities.

“Rahman Ravelli is about defending the individual who is accused by the authorities of serious or complex crimes. Amrik has the ability to assess the strength of a case, the skill to construct a robust and proactive defence and the desire to see a client given the very best chance to prove their innocence.
“He’s a great team player who will help Rahman Ravelli bring its skills to clients in the Midlands.’’
