Nuffield invests £2.6m in high tech upgrade

PRIVATE hospital operator Nuffield Health has made an investment of £2.6m in two scanners for its Leeds hospital.

The not-for-profit invested in MRI and CT scanners, the latter of which is the only one in West yorkshire to offer advanced cardiac imaging, generating static images of the heart.

The two scanners were officially opened at the Leeds city centre hospital by Leeds Rhinos rugby league star Danny McGuire this week.

The Siemens MRI scanner uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body. It means Nuffield has access to imaging services including liver diagnostics, breast, vascular, bowel and prostate.

Andrew Pimperton, diagnostic services manager at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital, said: “This is an exciting development which will both enhance our patients’ experiences and assist our expert staff and nationally renowned consultants in providing the best healthcare and treatment.

Maria Robinson, interim Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital director, added: “This significant investment not only confirms Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital’s position as the leading private healthcare centre for scanning services in Leeds and the wider region but also as one of the most advanced private hospitals in the UK.

“It supports our ability to deliver highly specialised services beyond the capability of most private hospitals.”
