6 reasons why miillennials are going to be the most successful generation yet

It is time to let the millennials loose! Recent studies suggest that millennials are going to be the most successful generation yet, because they’re bringing a whole load of change and perspective into business now and it is time to start listening and taking them seriously. Here are six reasons why:

1. They are the most educated generation
Over 600,000 applications were submitted to UCAS in 2015, the highest ever in history. So despite the rise in tuition fees, more young people are going to university than ever before. This means that millennials are more likely to have degrees and post-graduate qualifications than their parents, giving them a good foundation to their career ambitions.

2. They’re not obsessed with money
Research by the University of North Carolina found millennials don’t believe that money buys happiness and they would rather have a job that they enjoyed rather than being focused on the salary. With them preferring to have a job that they don’t dread going to, the theory is that it makes them better workers and more reliable. Interestingly, one in three young people said that they see social media freedom as more important than their wage.

3. They are more focused on a career than their parents ever were
A survey by PewResearchCenter found that just 26% of millennials (aged between 18-32) are married. This is compared to 48% in their parents’ generation and 65% in their grandparents’ generation. This is partly because they are being taught the importance of a career in school, are encouraged to consider higher education and focus on their career goals before starting a family.

4. They are optimistic about the future
Despite being under much more money pressures than their parents were at the same age, with student debts and lower relative earnings, they remain optimistic about the future and their finances in decades to come. PewResearchCenter found in their study that more than eight-in-ten say they currently have enough money to lead the lives they are want or expect to in the future.

5. They want to change the world
A survey by Psychology Today found that 50% of millennials from 28 countries wanted to work for companies with ethical practices and many believe that they have a duty to address society’s challenges in areas of concern like climate change and income inequality. They want their work to have purpose and have an impact.

6. They work as a team and stick together
PewResearchCenter also found that despite millennials being the most connected generation because of their social media savvy ways, they are actually the least trusting of other generations, with only 19% saying that they could trust most people. So millennials are more likely to work as a team and help others in Generation Y out rather than being focused on their own goals.
