The best apps for procrastinators

It starts with just scanning Facebook for 20 seconds, then suddenly you’re looking at everybody’s three minute Snapchat story and reading articles on cute kittens. What are you doing?! You have a million things to do by 5pm, so why are you letting yourself getting so distracted? We’re all guilty of it, here are four of the best apps which you can download right now to stop you from procrastinating.

Procraster
This app aims to deal with you ‘I don’t know where to begin’ issue. The idea ofProcraster is that you have to eliminate mental blocks to get over a particular barrier by offering you advice for how to deal with your workload. When you complete a task, the app allows you to reward yourself, with everything from checking your Twitter to treating yourself to a bar of chocolate. The app helps you through the work as you know you have a reward at the end of it!

SelfControl
This is ideal for the types who get so distracted by social media that it stops them from doing anything. SelfControl logs out of our social media accounts and changes the passwords until you have reached the end of your timer. Once you have reached the end – and by then you have hopefully finished your work – it will allow you to see your new passwords to be able to log back in. It might be a bit cut-throat, but it does the trick.

Finish
Finish is the ultimate task management app. You can set tasks as short term and mid term so you can easily see what you need to do in the following days and what tasks are most important. It will then remind you of when things are due, so you’ll never forget about a task again. This app is perfect to look over everything you have achieved that day and what you need to do during the following days.

Focus Keeper
This app works the same as the egg timer in your kitchen. Focus Keeper allows you to set and track your goals for the day and see how long you have until your next break. It transitions between work and break times, so you know at what point you need to get off Instagram. The app also offers statistics where you can see where you’ve been the most productive and what you spent the longest doing.
