Full throttle for motorcycle dealer’s growth plans after banking deal

A YORKSHIRE motorcycle dealer which also trades parts internationally has moved to bigger premises in a prime retail location after securing a five-figure funding package.

PGH Motorcycles of Scarborough supplies new and used bikes as well as carrying out all motorcycle work including servicing, MOT and repair services. It also sells new and used parts online to customers all over the world, offering 70,000 new parts and 1.5 million used parts.

The business, which was established 15 years ago, traded from a garage until moving to a multi-storey site in the town’s Victoria Road just 100 yards away from its former premises. The new site offers two floors of new and used bikes and scooters, with a further three floors dedicated to its online sales operation.

Yorkshire Bank has supported the move in a deal delivered by Simon Walker, relationship manager in the bank’s North Yorkshire Customer Banking Centre.

Pete Henson, owner of PGH Motorcycles and Breakers, said: “Moving to our new premises took a lot of hard work, but we’re over the moon with the site. Having a much bigger showroom means we’re able to display our bikes in a much more organised fashion and we have plenty of space for our clothing and accessories. We’ll also be able to build the online side of our business, which is growing rapidly with customers in Israel, the US, Russia, Latvia and China.

“It is early days, but business already seems better. As we are in a retail location, I’ve noticed that many newer faces are popping in.

“Yorkshire Bank has been crucial to developing the new site and getting it off the ground. Thanks to the Bank’s support, we are now in a strong position to grow our share of the market, increase turnover and potentially create new jobs.”

Simon Walker said: “It is extremely rewarding to be supporting Pete and his team, whose motorcycle expertise and services have attracted a loyal customer base across the North of England and beyond. “It is great to hear that business already appears to be improving and I look forward to working with the company as it continues to expand.”
